Prepare

## Ingredients

- **4** oz. pasta (Penne, Fusilli or Rigatoni work well)
- **1** block of feta cheese (about 7-8 oz)
- **2 cups** cherry tomatoes
- **2 cloves** of garlic, minced
- **1/4 cup** cup olive oil
- **1/2 tsp** salt
- **1/4 tsp** black pepper
- Fresh basil leaves, chopped (optional)

Cook

## Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the cherry tomatoes in a baking dish and add the minced garlic, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Toss everything together until the tomatoes are coated in the oil and seasonings. Place the feta cheese block in the center of the baking dish.

2. Bake the dish for about 30 minutes, or until the tomatoes have burst and the feta cheese is melted and golden brown. While the dish is being cooked, cook the pasta and then drain it.

3. Remove the dish from the oven. Use a fork to mash the feta cheese and tomatoes together until it forms a creamy sauce.

4. Add pasta to the baking dish with the feta cheese and tomato sauce. Toss everything together until the pasta is coated in the sauce. Serve the pasta hot, garnished with fresh chopped basil leaves, if desired.

## Chef's Tips & Notes

- Salt your pasta water generously — it should taste like the sea. This is your only chance to season the pasta from within, and it makes a remarkable difference.
- Reserve a cup of starchy pasta water before draining. This liquid gold helps emulsify sauces and creates that silky, restaurant-quality coating on every strand.
- Never rinse cooked pasta — the starch on the surface helps sauce cling to it. Toss drained pasta directly into your sauce for the best results.

The Baked Feta Pasta recipe that became popular on TikTok is a simple and tasty dish that features cherry tomatoes, feta cheese, garlic, and pasta. The dish has become popular because it is quick, easy to make, and requires only a few simple ingredients. The magic happens in the oven, where the feta softens into a velvety, tangy cream and the cherry tomatoes burst into a jammy, caramelized sauce. Every forkful delivers a rich, savory aroma and a beautiful balance of salty cheese, sweet roasted tomatoes, and fragrant garlic. I love how this recipe proves that extraordinary flavor does not require a long ingredient list — just great technique and quality ingredients. ### What is Baked Feta Pasta made of?

Here is a breakdown of the ingredients typically used in the viral TikTok Baked Feta Pasta recipe:

- Feta cheese: A block of feta cheese is the star ingredient of this dish. Feta is a salty and tangy cheese that melts beautifully in the oven and creates a creamy sauce when combined with the other ingredients. By the way, Feta, like other dairy foods, is rich in calcium, a mineral we need for muscle and nerve function as well as for strong, healthy bones and teeth.
- Cherry tomatoes: Cherry tomatoes are used to create the base of the sauce. When baked in the oven, the tomatoes become soft and juicy, and their flavors are concentrated.
- Garlic: Fresh garlic adds a pungent and slightly sweet flavor to the dish. It is typically minced and added to the tomatoes and feta cheese.
- Olive oil: Olive oil is used to coat the cherry tomatoes and help them cook and caramelize in the oven. It also adds richness and flavor to the dish.
- Salt and pepper: These basic seasonings are used to enhance the flavors of the other ingredients.
- Pasta: Any type of pasta can be used for this dish, but short pasta shapes like penne, rigatoni or fusilli work best. The cooked pasta is tossed in the tomato and feta sauce before serving.

Optional ingredients that can be added to the Baked Feta Pasta include fresh herbs like basil or oregano, red pepper flakes for heat, and additional vegetables like spinach or roasted red peppers.

### Does feta cheese melt when baked?

Yes, feta cheese will melt when baked, but it won’t become as smooth and creamy as other cheeses like mozzarella or cheddar. Instead, it will soften and become slightly creamy with a slightly tangy taste. This makes it a great option for the viral TikTok Baked Feta Pasta recipe as it creates a flavorful and slightly chunky sauce when combined with the roasted tomatoes.

### How to make the TikTok pasta with feta cheese?

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the cherry tomatoes in a baking dish and add the minced garlic, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Toss everything together until the tomatoes are coated in the oil and seasonings.

Place the feta cheese block in the center of the baking dish and spoon some of the tomato mixture on top of the cheese.

![cherry tomatoes, feta cheese and garlic](https://cdn.personalchefana.com/assets/images/recipes/baked-feta-pasta-4.jpg)

Bake the dish for about 30 minutes, or until the tomatoes have burst and the feta cheese is melted and golden brown. Cook the pasta. While the pasta is cooking, use a fork to mash the feta cheese and tomatoes together until it forms a creamy sauce.

Drain the cooked pasta and add it to the baking dish with the feta cheese and tomato sauce. Toss everything together until the pasta is coated in the sauce. Serve the pasta hot, garnished with freshly chopped basil leaves, if desired.

### Why is feta cheese healthy?

Feta cheese can be a healthy addition to your diet in moderation for several reasons:

1. Good source of protein: Feta cheese is a good source of protein, which is important for building and repairing muscles, as well as maintaining healthy hair, skin, and nails.
2. Low in calories: Feta cheese is relatively low in calories compared to other cheeses, which makes it a good option for those watching their calorie intake.
3. Rich in calcium: Feta cheese is also rich in calcium, which is important for healthy bones and teeth.
4. Contains healthy fats: Feta cheese is made from sheep’s milk or a combination of sheep’s and goat’s milk, which contain healthy fats that can help reduce inflammation and lower the risk of heart disease.

However, it’s important to keep in mind that feta cheese is also high in sodium, so it should be consumed in moderation as part of a balanced diet.

### A Note from Chef Ana

This Baked Feta Pasta is a dish I absolutely love preparing for my private dinner clients in The Woodlands and the greater Houston area. Having trained in European kitchens, Italian cuisine holds a special place in my culinary journey. The simplicity of Italian cooking demands the highest quality ingredients, which is why I always seek out the best local Texas produce and artisan products. I look for the ripest cherry tomatoes I can find — their natural sweetness is the foundation of that incredible roasted sauce — and I pair them with a quality block of creamy feta that melts into pure silk in the oven.

Whether you are hosting a dinner party, planning a celebration, or simply want a wholesome meal for your family, I would love to bring this recipe — and many more — to your table. ### Substitutions & Variations

As a personal chef who specializes in dietary accommodations, I always encourage my clients to adapt recipes to their individual needs. Here are some practical variations for this recipe:

- **Gluten-Free:** Use your favorite gluten-free penne or fusilli — chickpea or lentil-based pastas hold up especially well with thick, creamy sauces like this one.
- **Dairy-Free:** Replace the feta with a block of firm, marinated tofu. Toss it with the tomatoes and olive oil the same way — the tofu will soften in the oven and create a surprisingly creamy, tangy sauce.
- **Extra Protein:** Add a handful of cooked shrimp or diced grilled chicken to the finished pasta for a heartier meal that is still ready in under 45 minutes.

### Frequently Asked Questions

****Can I use a different type of cheese instead of feta?****

Feta is what makes this recipe special — its salty, tangy flavor creates the signature creamy sauce when it melts. If you must substitute, try a block of fresh goat cheese (chèvre). It melts similarly and provides a comparable tangy creaminess. Mozzarella or cheddar will not produce the same result.

****Why did my tomatoes not burst during baking?****

This usually means the oven was not hot enough or the baking time was too short. Make sure your oven is fully preheated to 400 °F (200 °C) before the dish goes in. The tomatoes typically need a full 25–30 minutes to blister, split, and release their juices into a beautiful sauce.

****Can I add vegetables to this baked feta pasta?****

Absolutely! Baby spinach, roasted red peppers, artichoke hearts, or sliced olives all make wonderful additions. Stir them in after mashing the feta and tomatoes, just before tossing with the pasta. Heartier vegetables like zucchini or bell peppers can be roasted alongside the tomatoes from the start.
