  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Salt, to taste
  • 2 whole-grain tortillas
  • 2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
  • 1/2 cup cherry tomatoes or regular tomato, cut

  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1-2 tbsp water (optional)

Instructions

1

Prepare the dressing. In a bowl, whisk together the Greek yogurt, Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, black pepper, and salt. If the dressing is too thick, you can thin it out by adding 1-2 tablespoons of water until it reaches the desired consistency. Set aside.

2

Cook the shrimp. Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic and sautΓ© for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant. Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with black pepper and salt, and sautΓ© for 2-3 minutes, or until cooked through. Remove the skillet from heat and set aside.

3

Assemble the wrap. Lay the tortillas on a flat surface and divide the chopped romaine lettuce evenly between them, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges. Add the cooked shrimp on top of the lettuce, then add the cherry tomatoes. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the ingredients. Drizzle Caesar dressing over the fillings, and roll up the tortillas tightly, tucking in the sides as you go. Cut the wraps in half and serve immediately. Enjoy!

Chef's Tips & Notes

Do not overcook shrimp β€” they are done the moment they turn pink and curl into a loose C-shape. Overcooked shrimp become rubbery and lose their natural sweetness.
Devein and pat shrimp completely dry before cooking. Excess moisture causes steaming instead of searing, which prevents that gorgeous golden caramelization.
For maximum flavor, cook shrimp in a single layer in a very hot skillet. Crowding the pan lowers the temperature and steams the shrimp instead of giving them a beautiful sear.

Are wraps OK for weight loss?

Whether wraps are okay for weight loss or not depends on the ingredients and the portion size. Wraps can be a healthy and low-calorie meal option if they are filled with lean proteins, plenty of vegetables, and whole-grain tortillas. However, some wraps may be high in calories, unhealthy fats, and refined carbohydrates, such as those made with fried ingredients or large flour tortillas. To make Shrimp Caesar Wrap more weight-loss friendly, you can use smaller whole-grain tortillas, increase the vegetable content, and use lean proteins such as grilled chicken, turkey, or shrimp. Substitutions & Variations

As a personal chef who specializes in dietary accommodations, I always encourage my clients to adapt recipes to their individual needs. Here are some practical variations for this recipe:

  • Gluten-Free: Use certified gluten-free tortillas (corn, cassava, or almond flour-based wraps) in place of the whole-grain tortillas. The rest of the recipe is naturally gluten-free.
  • Dairy-Free: Replace the Greek yogurt in the dressing with plain coconut yogurt, and swap the Parmesan cheese for nutritional yeast or a dairy-free Parmesan alternative. The dressing will still be creamy and tangy.
  • Vegetarian/Vegan: Replace the shrimp with crispy roasted chickpeas, marinated hearts of palm, or seasoned grilled tofu for a satisfying plant-based protein. Use a vegan yogurt and dairy-free Parmesan in the dressing as well.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I make shrimp Caesar wraps ahead of time for meal prep?

Yes! Cook the shrimp and prepare the dressing up to 2 days ahead and store them separately in the refrigerator. Assemble the wraps just before eating so the tortillas stay soft and the lettuce stays crisp. You can also pre-chop the romaine and store it in a damp paper towel-lined container.

What makes this Caesar dressing healthier than store-bought?

This version uses Greek yogurt as the base instead of mayonnaise or heavy cream, which dramatically reduces the fat and calorie content while adding protein. The Parmesan, lemon juice, and Dijon mustard provide all the classic tangy, savory Caesar flavor without the need for anchovies or raw egg yolks.

Can I use pre-cooked shrimp for this recipe?

Absolutely. Pre-cooked shrimp are a great time-saver. Simply thaw them if frozen, pat dry, and toss briefly in the hot skillet with garlic and seasonings for 1–2 minutes to warm through and add flavor. Be careful not to overcook, as pre-cooked shrimp can become rubbery quickly.

How do I keep the wrap from falling apart?

Warm the tortilla briefly in a dry skillet or microwave for 10–15 seconds to make it more pliable. Do not overfill β€” leave a 1-inch border around the edges. Fold the bottom edge up first, then tightly roll from one side, tucking in the ingredients as you go. Wrapping the bottom half in foil or parchment helps hold everything together while eating.
