Cook
Peel the tangerines and separate them into segments. Pat the segments dry with a paper towel.
Miz yogurt with honey. Dip each tangerine segment into the yogurt with honey. Place the yogurt-coated segments onto the prepared baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
Melt the chocolate in the microwave. Using a toothpick, dip each yogurt-coated tangerine segment into the melted chocolate, making sure it is coated on all sides. Place them back onto the baking sheet and sprinkle with chopped nuts of choice.
Chill the bites in the refrigerator until the chocolate is set, about 20-30 minutes. Serve and enjoy anytime!

These Chocolate Yogurt Tangerine bites are a delicious and healthy snack that combines the flavors of tangy tangerines, creamy yogurt, and rich dark chocolate! Each bite delivers a satisfying snap of dark chocolate shell, followed by cool, creamy yogurt and a burst of bright citrus sweetness. To make this snack, tangerine segments are dipped in yogurt, chilled, and then coated in melted chocolate. The bites are then chilled again until the chocolate is set, resulting in a satisfying and refreshing treat!

Yes, combining these two ingredients can be a delicious flavor pairing. The sweet and slightly tart taste of the citrus fruit can complement the rich and slightly bitter taste of the chocolate. This pairing balances flavors and textures that make for a satisfying and indulgent treat. Additionally, both tangerines and chocolate are rich in antioxidants, making them a healthy snack option.

Peel the tangerines or oranges and separate them into segments. Remove any excess membranes and pat the segments dry with a paper towel. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mix yogurt with honey to add some sweetness to the plain taste of yogurt. You can use vegan yogurt for the vegan option.

These Chocolate-covered Yogurt Tangerine Bites are one of the most requested appetizers at private events I cater in The Woodlands and the greater Houston area. I love setting out a platter of these during the holidays — the bright tangerine peeking through glossy dark chocolate always catches everyone’s eye, and they disappear within minutes. My philosophy has always been about elevating classic American comfort food with proper technique and the freshest local Texas ingredients. I source as much as I can from local farms and markets in the Houston area, because fresh, seasonal produce always makes a noticeable difference.
Whether you are hosting a dinner party, planning a celebration, or simply want a wholesome meal for your family, I would love to bring this recipe — and many more — to your table. As a personal chef who specializes in dietary accommodations, I always encourage my clients to adapt recipes to their individual needs. Here are some practical variations for this recipe:
Make sure the yogurt-coated segments are frozen solid (at least 30 minutes) before dipping. If the yogurt layer is still soft, the chocolate will slide off. Also, let the melted chocolate cool slightly — if it’s too hot, it can melt the frozen yogurt layer on contact.
Yes, though tangerines work best because their segments are smaller and easier to eat in one bite. If using oranges, cut each segment in half to keep them bite-sized. Blood oranges make an especially beautiful version with their deep red color.
Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, they keep for up to 1 week. For the best texture, eat them cold — the contrast between the snappy chocolate shell and creamy frozen yogurt is what makes them special.
